Family's Secret Dong Ding Oolong | oolong tea
Family’s Secret Dong Ding is a gently baked oolong from Baguashan, crafted to bring out a rounded, creamy sweetness. Its blend of Jin Xuan and Cui Yu offers a balance of soft texture and delicate fragrance, shaped through patient roasting into a comforting, quietly expressive tea.
Dong Ding takes its name from the mountain in Lugu, Nantou, where this celebrated Taiwanese oolong tradition developed. Over time, its production methods spread beyond the original growing area, and the name also came to describe a style of rolled, roasted oolong. This Baguashan interpretation follows that tradition with a lighter oxidation, preserving freshness beneath the warmth of the roast.
The craft begins before the leaves enter the oven. The two cultivars are blended and tasted first, with the finished cup in mind. After resting for several months, the spring tea undergoes repeated rounds of slow, low-temperature baking—a gradual process that develops sweetness and brings the blend’s flavours together.
The cup offers a sweet aroma reminiscent of custard, followed by a supple texture and gentle floral freshness. Creamy and mellow, it retains a lively lift that keeps each infusion feeling light and inviting.
