2026 Sanxia Bi Luo Chun | green tea
Sanxia Bi Luo Chun is regarded as Taiwan’s most iconic green tea, a tea deeply rooted in the tea-making history of the hills surrounding Sanxia in northern Taiwan. Crafted exclusively from tender pre-Qingming spring pickings of the Qing Xin Gan Zhi cultivar, this early harvest captures the vivid freshness and soft sweetness that define the finest Taiwanese green teas.
Although inspired historically by the famous Chinese Bi Luo Chun tradition, the Taiwanese interpretation has evolved into a style entirely of its own. Produced through generations of craftsmanship in Sanxia, the tea emphasizes clarity, sweetness, and a smooth buttery texture rather than aggressive grassy intensity. The cool mountain climate and misty spring weather of 2026 produced exceptionally delicate young leaves rich in aroma and amino acids, giving this year’s Mingqian lot remarkable softness and balance.
The liquor opens with bright vegetal freshness and sweet bean notes, followed by gentle floral tones and a creamy texture reminiscent of fresh butter and steamed greens. Subtle hints of bamboo shoots, spring herbs, and orchid linger beneath the surface, while the finish remains clean, cooling, and highly refreshing.
Elegant yet approachable, this tea offers the pure and comforting character of Taiwanese spring green tea at its seasonal peak.
