Choko Cup 1 | Jingdezhen

This choko cup is handcrafted in Jingdezhen from clay using traditional wheel-throwing techniques, then finished with a brushed layer of white slip before firing. The contrast between the raw clay body and the soft textured surface gives each piece a quiet warmth and tactile character rooted in East Asian ceramic tradition.

The name “choko” comes from the vessel’s rounded shape, reminiscent of a pig’s snout. Originally used in Japan for serving soup and sake, the form has gradually found new life in contemporary coffee and tea culture. Its wide opening and balanced proportions make it especially appreciated for coffee, allowing latte art to open beautifully across the surface while offering a comfortable grip in the hand.

Simple, versatile, and expressive, the cup bridges traditional craftsmanship with everyday use. The earthy clay body retains warmth pleasantly, while the open form enhances aroma and visual appreciation whether used for tea, coffee, sake, or desserts.
