Dan Cong Tea Heads | oolong tea
This Dan Cong “Lao Cha Tou” (Old tea heads)is made from mature leaves and leaf stems traditionally removed during the first and second rounds of sorting. While often overlooked, these parts of the tea plant are naturally rich in amino acids and retain much of the cultivar’s aromatic compounds. When sourced from high-quality Dan Cong material, they produce a tea that is gentle, aromatic, and quietly sweet, ideal for everyday drinking without sacrificing character.
Crafted under the guidance of Zheng Huifeng, a nationally recognized Chinese tea master, this tea comes from Phoenix Mountain (Fenghuang Shan), Chaozhou, one of the most important terroirs for Dan Cong oolong. Zheng’s approach emphasizes both ecological balance and precision: strict garden management, natural cultivation practices, and a refined modern workflow that improves consistency without losing traditional depth.
Through careful withering, oxidation, and roasting—using traditional wood-fired charcoal ovens—this Lao Cha Tou develops an elegant orchid fragrance, soft sweetness, and a calm, steady body. It is a tea that reflects winter harvesting energy and the quiet generosity of nature. We strongly recommend you to give it a try.
