Imperial grade refers to the highest leaf grade used for loose-leaf pu-erh, typically made from fine buds and young leaves. In this tea, that refinement shows not as intensity, but as balance and comfort. It’s exactly the kind of ripe pu-erh we wanted to start with: authentic, forgiving, and genuinely enjoyable.

We chose this Imperial Grade Shu Pu-erh with a simple goal in mind: to find a tea that is approachable, honest, and easy to enjoy—one that reflects the character of real ripe pu-erh without the heavy fermentation notes that often put people off.

The dry leaves are slender and well-shaped, mostly fine buds with a touch of leaf, showing soft golden tips against a glossy reddish-brown base. There’s a quiet warmth in the aroma—clean and mellow—with hints of dried jujube and a gentle, glutinous sweetness rather than any sharp or musty notes.

This is a shu pu-erh that holds up well over multiple infusions. It doesn’t rush to show everything at once, and it doesn’t fade quickly either. Each cup feels consistent—soft, rounded, and quietly satisfying—making it easy to drink regularly rather than saving it for a “special moment.”
